This Calgary, AB kitchen got a complete transformation from its original 1950's incarnation. One wall was removed to create a larger area, and a second wall was cut out above the new island to open the space up to the living room. The espresso coloured cabinetry were contrasted with custom white concrete countertops, and a simple white subway tile backsplash. Two glass upper cabinets provided more light, and a new window really brightened up the entire space. The large island was added to create a gathering space for casual dining, as well as plenty of much needed extra storage space.
